Kerala is set to witness local body elections at the end of this year. As a youth collective committed to facilitating an active citizenry in Thrissur, Learning City Thrissur believes in the power of collective visioning, and we are initiating a Youth Manifesto for Thrissur ahead of the municipal elections.
In a world marked by rapid social, ecological, economic, and political shifts, local governance must be responsive, inclusive, and forward-thinking. At the same time, citizens too have the right to and responsibility for meaningful participation when it comes to shaping policies and setting priorities that affect our lives.
The Youth Manifesto for Thrissur is intended as a public declaration by and for the youth of Thrissur. What visions do we have for our city? How do we see the processes of learning, working, living and being in relation to our locality? How do we build a resilient youth community to respond to any form of crisis? What changes do we wish to see in various sectors that will bring joy, aliveness and hope? How do we ensure personal, social and ecological wellbeing?
We invite young people (ages 16–36), along with schools, colleges, NGOs, youth collectives, and civil society groups, to join us in this co-creation process. Through a series of workshops, dialogues, and collaborative sessions, we will articulate our aspirations and turn them into actionable commitments.
